ABOUT ABOUT

Two sessions 11 am – 12:30 pm and 1 pm – 2:30 pm

Join renowned artist Naomi Kasumi for a hands-on artistic exploration of conservation in our Butterfly House Garden. Naomi Kasumi is an incredible artist based out of Seattle, joining us for one day only to share her process with our community. Her work is on display nationally and internationally in galleries and educational institutions nationally and internationally, including the 30x30 art exhibition at the Museum of Life and Science. If you’ve visited 30x30, you’ve likely been awestruck by her felted nests (Urban Colonial Sanctuaries) and intricate bee book (Home Sweet Home).

For this program, Naomi will lead artists young and old through the process of creating an installation art project. We’ll work as a team on a community pompom garden as a collaborative installation art project to learn about and celebrate Pollinator Day. The program is appropriate for young children (with the help of adults), and folks of any age will benefit from flexing their creative muscles.
